The round table was organized in collaboration with Private Sector Foundation Uganda

The round table offered the opportunity for CEOs to get updated on EABC outlook and plans for 2019 and receive feedback on issues hindering the export of products and services in the region. Mr. Gideon Badagawa urged companies in Uganda to improve local production capacity by seizing the larger  East African Market and called for harmonized East African Standards.

Among matters discussed, include:

  • Transport and Railway
  • Elimination of NTBs
  • Competitiveness
  • Forest value chain
  • Private Sector Charter
  • New member-centric products and services

Hon Peter Mathuki, EABC CEO noted that EABC is no longer an Observer but a key partner in the EAC integration process. He urged for implementation and enforcement of laws that are business friendly and political goodwill to eliminate recurring NTBs in the region. He said that EABC is in the process of organizing high-level meeting with Heads of State to engage them on critical NTBs in the region.

“Our task as EABC is to ensure the EAC puts BUSINESS at the top of their agenda,” said Mr. Kaheru.

Special thanks to Mr. Jim Kabeho, EABC Vice Chairman and Board Directors from Uganda  Mr. Stuart J. Mwesigwa, Ms. Barbra Mulwana and Mr. Simon Kaheru for making the event a great success.
