Best East African Company – Woman owned enterprise
The Award seeks to recognise a woman owned business that has achieved notable success in its area of operation. The judges will be looking for companies who are women owned and have been able to take advantage of the opportunities brought about by the EAC through exporting of their products and services. This award is open to all Women Owned Businesses irrespective of their sizes.
Best East African Company- Green Economy
The Award seeks to recognise a company in any sector that demonstrates awareness and use of principles that promote a greener economy. The judges will be looking for companies in any area of operation that can demonstrate the use of more energy efficient technologies and practices; use of renewable energies, green waste management practices, including recycling, sustainable use of natural resources, environmental awareness and compliance as well as those that have put in places measures to reduce their carbon footprint.
Best East African Company - Innovation
The Award seeks to recognise an East African company which has brought innovative products or practices that contribute to or enhance business across the EAC. The judges will be looking for products or practices that enable more efficient payments across the region; enable tracking of products or services across the region, allow for market information, for example on products availability and comparison of prices to be shared in a timely and cost effective manner, or enable more efficient reporting or resolution of NTBs, among others. This award is open to all businesses in the EAC, irrespective of their sector.
Best East African Company- Corporate Social Responsibility
The Award seeks to recognise an East African company that demonstrates the best corporate social responsibility practices. The judges will be looking for companies that have gone beyond the profit motive to be socially responsible through building the communities they operate around, taking environmental issues beyond compliance issues and supporting broader social issues in the EAC as part of their CSR. This award is open to all businesses in the EAC that have active CSR programmes.
