The SADC Secretariat in partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Trade (Tanzania), NEPAD Business Foundation (host of the SADC Business Council), Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) and East African Business Council like to invite you to the fourth SADC Industrialization Week (SIW). This year's SIW will be hosted by the government of the United Republic of Tanzania from 5th -9th  August 2019 at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

The SADC Industrialisation Week (SIW) is an annual public-private engagement platform aimed at fostering new opportunities for intra-African trade and investment. The theme for this year is ‘A Conducive Business Environment for Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development’. High-level delegates including ministers and senior policymakers from across the continent are expected to participate in this year’s event.

The SADC Industrialisation Week format features keynote addresses from high profile speakers on a wide range of themes and topics; panel discussions with industry experts and project owners; break-away sessions of key topical concern; exhibitions; matchmaking for SMEs as well factory site tours.

Among many sessions, the 4th SIW will focus on:

  • Measures and recommendations to develop Sustainable Regional Value Chains (RVCs)
  • Intra-regional trade
  • Trade facilitation focusing on Non-Tariff Barriers (NTBs) and Technical Barriers to trade
  • Opportunities and challenges for financing infrastructure development in Africa
  • Opportunities and challenges in developing regional payment systems in Africa
  • Ministerial round table discussion on the business environment
  • High-level dialogue with Ministers

SIW 2019 will feature specific discussions on pharmaceuticals, mining, agro-processing and gas value chains. The SIW programme will also have micro seminars on SMME development, digitization and financing as well as factory site visits and product exhibitions.

The event will be hosted on the margins of the 39th ordinary annual SADC Heads of States and Government Summit. Private sector recommendations and outputs from this event will be reported directly to the annual SADC Ministers Meeting, a body which determines policy discussions for Heads of State.

As a valued stakeholder and institution with the mandate to represent the Private Sector in Tanzania, we hereby have the pleasure of inviting you to participate in this esteemed event.
