Membership is drawn from the six (6) East African countries and is open to all companies and business associations with interest and operations in the region. Companies and associations can apply to become ordinary members, associate members or individual corporate.

EABC has increased in Membership from 54 in 2005 to over  170 in 2012; making EABC more representative of the EAC business community. This has also resulted in more financial resources to cover EABC’s core activities.

Our Members are categorised into three (3) broad areas:

1. Ordinary Members :include private sector association such as National Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Manufacturers Associations, Private Sector Apex Bodies, Federation of Employers, sector associations in banking, tourism, insurance, agricultural and transport sectors.

2. Associate Members : include government agencies that facilitate trade and investment such as Port Authorities, bureaux of standards, Investment Promotion agencies, Export Promotion agencies among others.

3. Individual Corporate :include multinationals, medium and small enterprises

With such a broad membership, and with members in all the 5 EAC Partner States, we ensure that we are as representative of the private sector as possible and that the views of majority businesses are articulated in all policy dialogues.

Becoming an EABC Member is simple – interested companies are required to complete a Membership Application Form, which provides EABC with details of the company and their areas of interest. The Secretariat then sends a letter to the company accepting their application and an invoice for Membership fees; which is USD 1500 (One thousand five hundred US Dollars only) for Ordinary and Associate Members; and USD 3000 (Three Thousand US Dollars) for Corporate Members. Membership fees are payable on annual basis.
