EABC 20th Anniversary Celebrations and Regional Business Excellence Awards (BEAs) 2018.

The East African Business Council (EABC) marks 20th years since formation in 1997. To celebrate this key milestone, this year EABC will host various events to mark 20 years of private sector contribution to the EAC Integration Process among them is the EABC Business Excellence Awards (BEAs) 2018.

The East African Business Council (EABC) marks 20th years since formation in 1997. To celebrate this key milestone, this year EABC will host various events to mark 20 years of private sector contribution to the EAC Integration Process among them is the EABC Business Excellence Awards (BEAs) 2018.

EABC will launch and start to receive entries for the Business Excellence Awards (BEAs) 2018 on 10th January, 2018. The EABC Business Excellence Awards (BEAs) seek to reinforce the critical role of the private sector in the economy of East Africa and to recognize and celebrate businesses from Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, South Sudan and Uganda that demonstrate exceptional business performance in accelerating regional growth, creating wealth, employment and reducing poverty across the region. As the only regional business awards, the EABC-BEAs provide businesses in East Africa an opportunity to compete for the ultimate business accolade at the EAC level. The inaugural EABC Business Excellence Awards are organized across three categories comprising of 14 individual awards available for competition.

Winners will be announced at the Gala Night on 23rd March 2018 at Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi. The Chairman of the Summit of the EAC Heads of State and President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has been invited and is expected to grace the Gala Dinner together with H.E Uhuru Kenyatta, President of the Republic of Kenya.
                         
The other events scheduled to take place that underline EABC 20th Anniversary Commemoration include:
                                                     
a) A high level one-day Conference themed ‘Beyond East Africa – Moving from Aspiration to Action’ is scheduled for Friday 23rd March 2018, at the Kenyatta International Convention Center, Nairobi, Kenya. Expected to be attended by regional and international thought leaders in business; EABC members, partners and key EAC public sector stakeholders including Ministries of EAC Affairs and other line ministries. The Conference is aimed at a candid reflection of EABC and its membership over the last 20 years, with a view to charting an action agenda for the next 20 years and beyond.

b) EABC will publish a Special EABC 20th Anniversary Commemorative Journal: to be availed during the Conference, the Commemorative Journal will highlight the role EABC has played in the EAC Integration process over the past 20 years; its successes and the key issues EABC Members and businesses in the EAC region continue to grapple with. Additionally, the Journal will be a platform to advance conversations on the form and shape of the EAC integration, the role of the business community as major drivers of growth of the economies of the region and the developmental agenda of the EAC integration process.

c) A Made in East Africa Products and Services Exhibition set up on 21st evening, running to 24th March 2018 and open to the public will be an opportunity to promote Made in East Africa Products and Services including companies based in East Africa with products and services for the EAC Market (grown, developed, manufactured, tailored, woven, baked in East Africa). This will be an opportunity to inspire the East African Spirit to an economy that consumes what we produce and produces what we consume both products and services. If you are already producing and selling your products and services for the EAC market or you have a vision to reach the EAC market - this is the place to be.

d) An East African Women in Business Conference will be held on 22nd March 2018, led by the EAWIBP and co-hosted with EABC and EAC at the same venue as an opportunity for East African Women in Business to discuss key aspects of trade across borders, Successes and challenges for women owned business in the region. Key thought leaders will be part of this event to make it outstanding as part of EABC 20th Anniversary celebrations.
