Creating Perspectives: Business Membership Organisations in the Spotlight

To ensure the sustainability of the project, the team of “Creating Perspectives: Business for Development” focuses on equipping its partner Business Membership Organisations (BMOs) with the right skill set to provide its member companies a platform for matching and support them with their internationalization process in the future. Therefore, already two BMO trainings have been organized in 2019, one of them on 28th and 29th January in Dar es Salaam.

Four Tanzanian BMOs (CTI, TCCIA, ZNCCIA and TPSF) and one Burundian BMO (AIB) participated in the training which aimed at enhancing their capacity towards becoming full-service providers for their member SMEs. The sessions were facilitated by an expert from BioLAGO Network, a cross border Certified Cluster of excellence which operates in four countries (Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Lichtenstein), who could, therefore, give great practical insights.

One of the goals of the training was enhancing innovation in the current digital transformation and global competition through good practices from the European System for BMO Management Excellence. The BMOs also exchanged ideas on strategies for policy and advocacy, how to develop tailor-made services and new trends in trade fairs management. During the trade fair management session, the four Tanzanian BMOs even came up with an idea to initiate joint trade fairs which will act as platforms to support their members from various clusters in showcasing their products and boost internationalization.
