EABC has an Observer Status in all the organs of the EAC. Through the recently approved Dialogue Framework, EABC has formalized its engagement with the EAC where we can now come come up with an Agenda for discussion with the public. Although we are not yet an independent institution of the EAC, we are currently enjoying a cordial relationship with EAC Secretariat and they have recognized us as the voice of the private sector in the region.


Trade Mark East Africa is a not for profit organization that supports the EAC integration process in areas such as trade policy reform, trade related infrastructure, regional investment climate harmonization, export development and trade facilitation. The support to EABC includes development of sectoral sectors that will ensure involvement of key sectors in influencing the overall integration agenda.

The German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) represents the German government in development cooperation all over the world. GIZ operates in many fields, including economic development; governance and democracy; security, reconstruction, peace building among others. The support to EABC via GIZ SPAA; is in the area of HIV and Health, rallying of the entire Private sector and Chief Executive officers across the region to support workplace health and safety programs

Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie
The Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie (BDI), Federation of German Industries e. V. (BDI) is the leading organization of German industry and industry-related service providers. It represents 40 industry associations and more than 100,000 companies with around 8 million employees. Membership is voluntary. A total of 15 state representations represent the interests of the economy at the regional level. Headquarters of the BDI is in the Haus der Deutschen Wirtschaft (house of the German economy) in Berlin; Between 1950 and 1999 this was in the House of German Industry in Cologne. In addition, the BDI has other offices abroad and is therefore represented internationally.

International Trade Center (ITC)
ITC’s mission is to enable small business export success in developing and transition-economy countries, by providing, with partners, sustainable and inclusive development solutions to the private sector, trade support institutions and policymakers.EABC works with ITC on a number of capacity building programs and Policy Advocacy Fora.

International Lawyers and Economist Against Poverty (ILEAP)
International Lawyers and Economists Against Poverty (ILEAP) has since 2008 been supporting EABC to develop capacity of EAC private sector to understand and take advantage of Trade-in-Services Negotiations with the European Union in the context of European Partnership Agreement.

As part of the support to EABC, ILEAP, EABC undertook studies aimed at identifying offensive interests of the EAC in EPA in the services sector. Studies were presented at workshop in Nairobi, Kenya in February.

ACBF is a foundation whose mission is to build human and institutional capacity for sustainable growth and poverty eradication in Africa. Their support to EABC includes institutional strengthening through recruitment of three additional staff, improving advocacy capacity of EABC through staff and member trainings on advocacy, Modernisation of EABC office, member development services and improved communications.
