Wednesday, 13th October 2021: The East African Business Council (EABC) Board Director Mrs. Amelie Ninganza accompanied by EABC CEO Mr. John  Bosco Kalisa, paid a courtesy visit to the EAC Secretary-General, Hon. Dr. Peter Mathuki at the EAC Headquarters in Arusha and reaffirmed partnership on delivering double-digit economic growth and luring investments into the EAC bloc.

In her remarks, Mrs. Amelie Ninganza commended the Secretary-General for deep goodwill on elevating partnership with the private sector as the engine for EAC economic growth and prosperity.

She lauded the EABC-EAC Technical Working Group as a direct channel for the national private sector associations to present cross-border trade barriers to the EAC Secretariat for a quick resolution.


Mrs. Amelie Ninganza stated that the regional private sector is committed to engaging with the EAC Council of Ministers and Heads of State on solutions to boost intra-EAC trade and the upcoming East African Business and Investment Summit set to market the bloc as a  single investment destination.

On his part, EABC CEO Mr. John Bosco Kalisa said “EABC will organize a business mission to DRC to explore B2B partnerships.” He urged the EAC Secretariat to involve the private sector in the admission process of DRC into the EAC bloc to build buy-in.

On his part, the EAC Secretary General applauded the East African Business Council for being at the forefront in improving the businesses and investment climate. Hon. Dr. Mathuki said, “Under the EAC-EABC Technical Committee preparations of the East African business mission to Turkey and India are ongoing.”
