BUSINESS LEADERS’ SUMMIT OUTLINES TRADE PRIORITIES TO POLICY MAKERS

EABC organized the East African Business Leaders’ Summit on 1st March 2016 in Arusha Tanzania.

The event under theme “Enhancing the Role of the Private Sector as Driver of the EAC Integration Process”, attracted over 180 delegates incluing business leaders, Honorable Ministers and Cabinet Secretaries from the EAC Partner States, Permanent Secretaries and Principle Secretaries, Directors of Trade and Investment from the Ministries of EAC and Trade from the Partner States.
160 Business leaders came from across East Africa to actively participate in this first ever East African Business Leaders’ Summit preceding the EAC Heads of State Summit.
EABC was privileged to host the EAC Secretary General, The Speaker of the East African Legislative Assembly and the Hon Judge President from the East African Court of Justice. Hon Amb. Augustine Mahiga, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Regional, East African and International Cooperation as the guest honour conducted the official opening and key note address of the East African Business Leaders’ Summit.

Evening Dinner hosted key dignitaries including Amb. Ombeni Sefue, Chief Secretary for the United Republic of Tanzania representing HE. John Pombe Magufuli, Chair of the Summit of the EAC Heads of State and President of the United Republic of Tanzania. Key Note Address by Amb. Ombeni Sefue, Chief Secretary for the United Republic of Tanzania .

The following day, EABC Chairman, Mr. Dennis Karera addressed the Heads of State of the 17th Ordinary Summit of the EAC Heads of State, presenting the key priority issues raised in the Business Summit.
