The webinar is organised under the FAPA-funded project “Accelerating Sustainable and Inclusive Industrialization in the East African Community (EAC)”.
The webinar will present and validate emerging findings from studies and analyses on the leather, textiles and edible oils value chains. It will bring together manufacturers, women-owned enterprises, value-chain actors, policymakers and trade-support institutions to ensure that the findings reflect the real challenges and opportunities faced by industries in East Africa.
Discussions will focus on:
- Productivity, production capacity and regional value chains
- Access to raw materials, finance, technology, skills and energy
- EAC trade instruments, including the CET, Rules of Origin, duty remission and EPZ/SEZ regimes
- Government procurement and local content as drivers of regional manufacturing
- Opportunities to increase value addition, intra-EAC trade and exports
- ESG, corporate governance and gender inclusion through the EABC ESG Self-Assessment Tool
