COVID-19 AND ITS EFFECTS ON BUSINESS: THREAT OR DRIVER FOR INNOVATION?

Background
The Agency for Business & Economic Development (AWE) and the Federation of German
Industries (BDI) are organizing an exclusive “Women’s Business Breakfast” on November 18th,
2020. Female entrepreneurs, founders and CEOs from Africa and Europe will have the
opportunity to exchange ideas and network in an informal setting.
This third Women’s Business Breakfast follows the successful events that took place in the
context of the G20 Investment Summit – German Business and the CwA Countries in Berlin
(Nov. 2019) and the German African Business Summit in Ghana (Feb. 2019).

Concept
For the past months, the COVID-19 pandemic has affected nearly everybody in every sphere
of live and has had great impact on business. For most branches the effects have been
negative, even leading to closure of businesses in many cases. For others, the pressure to be
innovative and adapt has led to a stabilization, perhaps even positive development of their
ventures.
After two successful events with business topics around female success stories from both
continents, the third Women’s Business Breakfast will focus on the effects, COVID-19 is having
on business, how it is threatening companies and how the necessity to innovate can lead to
new prospects.
This exclusive business breakfast will open up the field for an exchange of experiences from
a female perspective, strengthen networks and create opportunities for investment and for
innovative ideas and partnerships. Due to the travelling restrictions it will take place online.
