Annual General Meeting (AGM)
The AGM is the supreme policy-making organ of the East African Business Council. The AGM meets once a year to elect the Executive Committee (Board) and give the overall direction of the Secretariat in line with the Strategic Plan and interests of businesses in East Africa.
Governing Council
The Governing Council was established as part of EABC’s governance structure through amendments to the Memorandum and Articles of Association (MEMARTs), adopted during the 23rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 13th December in Arusha, Tanzania. Its primary roles include providing strategic guidance, making policy decisions, overseeing operations, and ensuring compliance with EABC’s MEMARTs.
The Governing Council comprises four (4) members from each EAC Partner State. It includes the EABC Chairperson, Immediate Past Chairperson, Vice-Chairpersons, and three elected Board Members per Partner State who are paid-up EABC members. The EABC Executive Director serves as the Secretary to the Governing Council. Members are nominated by their National Chapters and elected during the AGM.
The Governing Council take part in sub-Board Committees on Finance & Administration Committee, Audit & Governance Committee, Policy & Advocacy Committee, Environmental Social Governance (ESG) and working groups on Trade-in Service, Manufacturing, Agriculture and Small & Medium Enterprises(SMEs) Women & Youth.
Executive Committee
Executive Committee is headed by a Chairperson, elected from the Partner States on bi-annual rotational basis. Executive Committee is composed of the Chairperson and 1 Vice-Chairs from each EAC Partner States not holding Chairpersonship. The Immediate Past Chair and the Executive Director/Secretary are also part of the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee reports to the Governing Council. Its main responsibility is to efficiently oversee the operations of EABC Secretariat and ensure that the Council’s decisions are implemented in line with the strategic direction set by the Governing Council.

Manages the day-to-day activities of EABC.

EABC Secretariat has National Membership Liaison Officers in each of the EAC Partner States.
