The Executive Director of the East African Business Council (EABC), Mr. Ahmed Farah HSC, participated in a dialogue on the Social Market Economy in Cadenabbia, Italy, convened by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS).

The discussions explored the importance of capable public institutions, fair competition, predictable rules and responsible private enterprise in promoting sustainable economic growth. The Social Market Economy combines economic freedom with social balance, supported by institutions that establish clear and reliable rules for businesses.

Reflecting on the dialogue, Mr. Farah emphasised that EABC will apply these lessons to strengthen advocacy for fair competition, predictable rules for regional trade and investment, and greater participation of businesses, particularly SMEs, in East African regional integration.

For EABC members, these priorities are essential to reducing barriers to cross-border trade, improving the business environment, expanding market opportunities and ensuring that regional integration delivers tangible benefits to enterprises across all EAC Partner States.
