As part of its “One Trade Africa” programme to support the operationalization of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), the International Trade Centre (ITC), East African Business Council (EABC) and Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) are organising a high-level forum to identify key intervention areas for MSMEs in East Africa and Kenya within the AFCFTA. The Nairobi Forum will outline existing opportunities and new trade roadmaps available for MSMEs through the continental trade agreement to grow their businesses. By engaging national and regional stakeholders on policy recommendation, the forum will identify areas for increased alignment to the AfCFTA. Discussions will also take into account the current global context affecting trade mechanisms such as COVID-19 and the need for more public-private dialogue to realise the AfCFTA. Finally, the forum will bring about a Call to Action report identifying key areas for intervention within the AfCFTA.
