The East Africa Maritime Awards (EAMA) 2020 Launch

The East Africa Maritime Awards (EAMA) 2020 edition has been launched. The awards now in its 2nd edition is a strategic and noble initiative of the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in collaboration with anchor stakeholders namely; Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Kenya Trade Network Agency (KenTrade), Shippers Council of Eastern Africa (SCEA) and East African Business Council (EABC)

EAMA is the solitary East Africa’s Maritime industry forum that recognizes, celebrates and fetes outstanding sectoral players, individuals, teams and organizations on specified initiatives developed and implemented within the maritime industry. The purpose behind the highly coveted awards is majorly to inspire, reinforce efficiency, incentivize businesses, challenge sectoral players and professionals alike and encourage overall growth within the maritime industry.

EAMA event is held/hosted to showcase, endorse and celebrate innovation efficiency and creativity in the maritime industry

The highlight of the awards is the EAMA Gala dinner to celebrate the milestone of the Maritime excellence in Kenya. The dinner will be held on 21st May, 2021 in Mombasa – Kenya.

 Eng. Rashid Salim (EGH) – Managing Director –Kenya Ports Authority said that the focus in the second edition will be to award individuals and organizations that have  stood out and , excelled at being tactically innovative whilst paying  close attention to the maritime pillars during their strategic planning and implementation phases’, competitive and initiated development of sound sustainability programs as well as being able to demonstrate ingenuity, resilience and success especially during the  Covid-19 pandemic. This signals a clear demonstration of outstanding maritime leadership, spot on innovation, brevity on the part of the professionals and teams behind those organizations that seem to have registered very limited adverse effects.

EABC CEO, Hon. Dr. Peter Mathuki, joined in the launch of the East African Maritime Awards(EAMA). He encouraged EAC Private Sector to participate in the EAMA competition. #EAMA recognizes key achievements of maritime industry stakeholders.

This year’s edition of EAMA whose theme is ‘Innovation. Competitiveness. Sustainability’ will bring to life the various strategies maritime professionals have developed and implemented to cope with the adverse effects of Covid-19 pandemic in the industry. The process of receiving submissions of entries will be opened on 21st December, 2020 and will close on 22nd February, 2021. The judging exercise will be carried out by a panel of seasoned and reputable industry experts and chaired by an experienced Chief Judge.
